Out of the Frying Pan 2 (Bol and Kesler)

Bol curses under his breath. 'Just my luck. The little guy has a gift.' He tries to hide his features in any shadows that are present while unclasping his blaster with his free hand. He sips his drink again, waiting to see what fate has brought to him this time.

The Twi'Lek woman turns back to gaze at Kesler, listening and hanging on every word he speaks. "I... I don't know about that. I mean, I know our kind are very expensive. I couldn't ask you to do that. You've already done enough for my family. This is my fate. For me to suffer..." Her voice trails off.

Kesler realizes that a single slave is worth more than almost anyone can afford, easily in the tens to hundreds of thousands of credits. While in the Republic, slaves are illegal, out here, they are a major source of credit flow.

As Bol watches, a squad of Imperial troopers in bone white armor enter the cantina. They are joined by an officer wearing a simple gray uniform. The officer goes to the barkeep and begins asking some questions while the soldiers look around. From the way they are acting, it is apparent they are looking for someone specific...

Kesler looks down at his credit chip wondering as he replaces it what nerf-brained impulse made him take it out in the first place. He sighs and looks both embarrassed and depressed. "No, I don't believe in fate, it's just an excuse to give up hope. The choices we make have consequences, sometimes they aren't fair, sometimes they're just wrong. I became a doctor to help people and I'm ashamed to say that I had begun to forget that recently, but you reminded me. So don't try to tell me not to help you." Now quite a bit more confident, he takes a moment to let his words sink in before continuing. "Who is it that owns you?" he finally asks, and after a moment adds; "And for that matter, what's your name?"

Bol rolls his eyes and tries to get an idea of how many there are. He looks at the barkeep and tries to get an idea as to whether or not he's the one in question. All the while, he's trying to remember the quickest way out of the establishment.

"I... I'm ashamed to say, but I am owned by another of my race. His name is Fortuna." She pauses for a moment in her thoughts, eyes downcast, as if truly feeling guilty for even mentioning her servitude. "They call me Nuina. Nuina Cay."

The officer with the barkeep is obviously frustrated with him. The barkeep's shaking head seems to be telling him that the person the Imperials are looking for is not here. This of course does nothing to improve the mood of the officer, who motions to one of the troopers.

In a few moments, the troopers have begun to herd many of the patrons towards the back wall of the main room, despite protests. Some of the troopers begin looking in the direction of Bol and Kesler.

Kesler finally notices something strange is happening as the troopers start to clearing the room. While surprised to see Imperial soldiers here, he is not overly concerned as they've got no reason to bother him. Still, he suggests to Nuina that they move away from the center of the room to continue their discussion. Still speaking in Huttese he says; "Fortuna, does he own this Cantina too? I suppose one thing he doesn't need is credits if he can buy slaves, but his type always has a weakness. Gambling, drinking, spice, can you think of anything?"

Bol sees the troopers glancing at him. Following their lead, he slides out of the booth, not so gracefully and stumbles to follow the rest of the patrons to the back wall. He scans the room looking for other possible means of escape should it come to that. As he's moving towards the other partrons, he tries to make eye contact with the doc.

OOC:
Bluff I suppose to appear as though he's drunk? Bluff +8 (6 ranks, +2 Cha)

Bluff works in that way, good idea! Just so as you know, after this post, I want you guys to head over to the other one with Bobitron and Toric, as all of you are now in the same place....

Nuina shakes her head, her lekku falling about her shoulders as she accompanies Kesler to the wall. The doctor eyes the Bothan, Bol, as he stumbles out of his seat, onto the floor and back up. Then he tumbles into the arms of one of the soldiers. Unimpressed, they shove him towards the wall with the rest of the patrons. It is then that two people walk in to the entrance.

One of them looks like a mercenary from some other backwater planet and the other is a Cerean that looks oddly out of place...
