[Surprise Round]

Weapon and Ahki haul on the rope pulling Kharas up only a couple of feet. His legs dangle only two feet from the floor of the foundry as the dwarf holds the journal tightly.

The iron defenders approach but do not attack the dwarf.

[Round 1]

Weapon and Ahki brace their feat again and pull. This time they are able to raise Kharas all the way to the edge of the hole.

"Hmm...they did not attack him when they had the chance before you could pull him up. Perhaps they won't attack the one with the journal, at least. Kharas, think you can get what we need from down there without killing these things? They may be unnatural constructs, but just like with real guard dogs, it is not their fault that they have been trained to guard this place, and so there is no need to destroy them unless we must."

 

[Velmont]

"What??? That are metal construct animated by magic. If they want to kill me, I'll destroy them, no discussion!" shouts the dwarf as he draws his morningstar. "Pull me down, slowly and get ready to pull me up if they attack." Kharas put himself in full defence, awaiting for the reaction of the dogs. Kharas starts to talk to himself, nervous and looking at the dogs. "Now what, I won't be able to walk on a sand beach because I would crush the poor grain of sand, which hasn't chosen to land on that beach. I think my first impression was good finally."

 

[Rystil Arden]

"Well of course we destroy them if they attack you," Siobhan rolls her eyes.

Lowered down again Kharas finds that the dogs do not move to attack him.

Weapon keeps a grip on the rope, closely watching his friend. "We await your signal."

 

[Velmont]

"If I shout in pain, it will be the signal." tells the dwarf. He quickly look around and get back his attention toward the iron guardian. He repeat that, but each time, taking a bit more time to look around. After a moment, he stay vigilent, but he will start to search more actively for the blue print.

Imminent destruction averted for now, Kharas begins searching the place thoroughly. The shelves along the southern wall are mostly empty, though there are a number of objects wrapped in ancient oilcloth. A huge forge and furnace occupy the eastern most 10 feet of the room. There are large metal tiles covering the floor in front of the forge. Beneath the hole in the north western part of the room is the large pile of debris under which one iron defender has been crushed. The adamantine door appears more like steel from this side.

Slowly, carefully, Kharas head toward the oilcloth and just unfold them to see what they are protecting. "With all these insects and dust, I woudl be surprise to be able to find there blue print. How a parchemin could survive that?" continue to mutter the dwarf to himself.
