Part 1: The Forgotten Forge (Knight Otu judging) [Concluded]

"It do be clear that ye consider y'self a bit more morally advanced than th' rest of us." Mordin retorts, annoyed at the druid's tone.

"Jes' 'cause we dinna agree with ye don't be coloring us wrong. I took Lady d'Cannith's coin, and I do be puttin' stock in my name and my rep to do be gettin' jobs done."

"And I say that's a dangerous attitude if you don't even know the goal of your employer--would you want the reputation of the adventurer who is really reliable in performing missions...for the Lord of Blades? The Lords of Dust? The Dark Six? I would say you'd have a better reputation by far as the adventurer who was brave enough to defeat all opponents and retrieve the artifact and canny enough to make sure it didn't fall into the hands of an evil employer, saving the world from dark machinations. Well, granted you would have a worse reputation among evil villains, though, so I guess if you're looking for a evil henchman internship, this is a bad idea."

"Then if only gold guides your heart, let my offer of the possibility of more gold do so, but for Spirits' sake don't ignore it all. What do you possibly have to gain in refusing to check? If she isn't deceiving us or working for evil, everything goes as it would anyway, and if she is, we avoid aiding evil and you possibly get more money. What is the downside here? One brief conversation with someone else? I've seen the lengths you were willing to brave to reach this schema--surely it can't be that you are lazy?"

"Why should we check? And where do your mysterious reserves of gold be comin' from? Let me tell ye somethin', lass," Mordin shifts his ponderous bulk and leans forward, his eyes fixing on Siobhan's. "I dinna give a damn whether the Lady be evil or good. It no be hurtin' us to verify the schema, but I do be getting paid to work fer Lady d'Cannith. Ye need to be learnin' the difference between caution and paranoia."

"Why shouldn't we check? There is no reason not to check because in either case, we lose nothing by checking. However, call it a one in one hundred chance that I'm right if you like--it doesn't matter either way--in that off-chance, we've gained substantially by checking."

"As to the gold, it would be coming from the house itself, assuming this Elaydrin had gone rogue and was working for some evil third party. If she hadn't, then everything would proceed as normal without any significant effort being taken. I'm not even asking you to take the effort--I'm just asking you to stop being a...I don't even know what you're being because your position doesn't make any sense, and let me do it."

"Ye do be deft, lass! First ye offer more coin to check if the Lady not be who she do be sayin' she is, then ye say the money 'twill come from the House that she claims as her own!" Mordin snorts derisively and turns back to his bed, trying to reclaim what sleep he can eke out from the rest of the night.

His voice, muffled, carries his last words on the topic. "We be getting paid to bring this to the Lady. I do be wanting to get paid. 'Tis a simple enough equation."

And with that, the fat dwarf brings the brim of his hat down over his eyes and tries to sleep.

*Siobhan glares at Mordin.*

"You aren't listening to what I'm saying. It is clear that there is nothing to be gained in talking to you. Fortunately, it seems that none of the rest of us share your allergies to common sense and a quick check, so we will do that before handing this over," Siobhan concludes decisively before waiting quietly for Kharas to continue his studies.

(OOC: It looks like Akhi actively wants to see what other offers we might get, Weapon is at least open to checking on Elaydrin first, Mordin/Del is opposed to checking, and Kharas and Stulgar haven't really offered a clear opinion. Assuming nobody disagrees with her, Siobhan will wait to hear Kharas's appraisal before settling down for the night. She also waits to hear more from Brother, who has seemed rather distant lately--she might use her Cure Light Wounds before resting to heal anyone who seems certain to side with her and not Mordin if the Changeling chooses to come to blows over checking up with the Cannith folks before handing over the schema

On another note, I really wish Shifters didn't have penalties to my favourite two stats so I would be able to play Siobhan as either more suave or intellectual about this :()

You're the only one who keeps mentioning violence. I'd like to make that clear. :)[/sblock]

(OOC: Hence the if ;). Most of the others seem to think Siobhan's wrong but don't care if she checks or at least don't care enough to try to stop her, but Del/Mordin says he doesn't want her to check. Siobhan is used to being mistrusted for being different and assumes that being forced into a fight is a possibility--out of character, I doubt it will actually happen.)
