I was pleasantly surprised to see this in the character builder update!

It's a cool idea. I was bored and statted out a dwarf ranger/barbarian last night, and ended up taking a few of these. :)

You don't find the component cost for any of them too high?

Well, personally, at our home table, it's not an issue. It might be because of our houserules.

1. I personally use the common houserule about folding pluses (and expertise feats for that matter) into the character themselves.

2. I've banned the alway-on static damage increasers (bloodclaw, reckless, armband).

The combination of the two means that my players are much more willing to spend money on rituals.

I see what you mean, but still something like Traveler's Feast is outrageously priced; for 525 gp you still can't feed a party of 5 with their mounts for a single day...

I'm not sure what the "Healer's Gift" utility power is for. I've never had a problem of someone trained in heal blowing a skill check to trigger a healing surge more than once.

Faith Healing doesn't seem like it would be that useful either.

The skill check only allows the triggering of a second wind. If second wind is used then they do not get a surge no matter what you roll on heal. You may be house ruling otherwise though.

Faith Healing, is keyed off religion and allows the target to spend a healing surge, there is no mention of Second Wind so the healing surge can be spent event if Second Wind is used.

Healers gift will allow a downed charcter to spend a healing surge even if the character is down and even if their second wind is used. Remember that the first aid check only stabilised them or allows them to use second wind.

Never mind - for some reason I did not notice the extra pages of responses.

Huh?

35 gp feeds 5 people for a single day.
105 gp feeds 5 large mounts in a single day.

Total 140 gp

How did you get 525 gp?

(As an aside, I hope Darksun writers mention this since just like 2e, spells kind of take the bie out of the starvation/environment rules of DS)

Not only is Healer's Gift a minor action, but it triggers the full Second Wind ability, including anything that triggers of it(such as the defense boost, or a Wardens ability).

Faith Healing is a healing ability that anyone can pick up if their trained in religion. Is a cleric going to take it? Probably not. But an Avenger or Invoker might, and still leave their multiclass feat open for another class.

My mistake, I used the ritual cost, instead of the component cost.

Still grossly overpriced IMHO. For 5 gp you can feed 7 people and the food doesn't disappear at the end of the day. Sure, creating the food can be a big advantage, but not worth so much money. A party of 5 with mounts need to cast the ritual 4 times and many parties have more than 5 characters.

That's pretty pricey at 4th level when you get the ritual, but at 14th level you have 21K walking around money. Then that price falls to the "don't bother to record it" level.
