PH3 Preview: SKill Powers

It's in the builder update as well. I didn't know that.

I like how it cuts across class. I'm already thinking of ways to apply this to other campaign worlds.

More utility slots are needed......

... in fact a whole set of at will/enc/daily powers with just skills and out of combat applications needed IMO, like a Gestalt class. Choose a combat class (attack powers and abilities, HP, Defs, proficiencies etc) and an 'skills' class (skill points, class skills, expanded utility powers, rituals etc).
Exactly what I started working on right when 4E came out. But I had nowhere near the time to work on it!

Yeah, I was hoping for more non-combat powers too.

I like it overall. But Invigorating Presence is absurd. How does one person's lamaze breathing give temp hp to the rest of the party?

"Take heart, my friend! This fight is not over!"

Not at all - at least, not to me.

If you ascribe to the "hit points represent the will to fight on" school of thought, I can certainly imagine a scene where a badly beaten down character finds the strength inside him to keep fighting (ie takes his second wind) and, inspired by this renewed hope and boosted morale, his friends give one last push of effort themselves.

It's very cinematic, and makes a mostly useless skill come into play. I like it.

... background powers ...

My character has this background and that backgrounds benefit is access to these unique background utility powers.

It's kinda funny, in a different thread people are talking about how we need more out of combat things, and how skills could contribute to that.

So WotC makes skills more combat related.

I had too, really, really hoped that they would add some non-combat powers so you had some interesting out-of-combat options, other than just (sigh) slugging your way through yet-another-skill-challenge. :( :(

It's not like there is a dearth of combats powers...
