PHB3: Random stuff that doesn't merit a full post

(1) For the Runepriest, I'm not understanding the Rune of Destruction under the Rune Master class feature.

"Allies gain a +1 bonus to attack rolls against enemies that are adjacent to you or to any other runepriests who are in this rune state."

This would technically mean that if you were fighting an enemy runepriest, your allies would gain the benefit if the enemy runepriest were in the runestate at the same time you were....the enemy's allies would similarly benefit.

This is one of the few times where a benefit doesn't specify allies for all permutations.

Actually, it's more because hybrid and multiclass Runepriests (or half-elven Dilletantes) don't have the Rune Master class feature, so don't get the bonus there--however actually entering the rune state is a function of the Runic keyword, so such a being could be in the rune state without getting that bonus.

Yes...i acknowledge this is the case also. It does not change the fact that by a strict reading of the ability, enemy runepriests grant the same benefit.

Of course, that would require the existance of enemy runepriests... monsters not having character classes and all that makes it tough.

Yeah, not only that but a character MCed into runepriest wouldn't count for purposes of this rule anyway. A hybrid would though. Another possibility is that Rune Master could be a feature some future builds don't get. If that were the case then the wording would actually mean something for them too. My guess is there is some sort of corner case that it catches somewhere.

Monsters can be runepriests, if the GM wants. They just need to be built using the NPC creation rules int he DMG or have a runepriest class template applied to them (not that we have it, but it's easy to fake).

I think the weird wording for the runepriest thing (and some other powers in PHB3) is because they were in the process of changing the stacking rules for things. (See also how the Ardent as previewed and in the compendium has a no-stacking line in the Mantles that isn't present in the final book, because it's now the standard rule.)

Off Runepriests and onto Psions:

Kenetic Trawl (Psion At-Will 1) is missing the Augmentable keyword. Clearly a typo.

also:

Forceful Push is a Free Action!!!

Push one square whenever you want... that's... rather amazing.

Yeah, I'm wondering if they'll errata that to a "free action on your turn". Then again, it's still only 1/encounter. As is, you currently can ruin a monster's move+melee attack if you time it right.

I think they intend for it to be used at any time like that.

I'm tossing this in as "another thing that doesn't need its own thread" --

Preface: I fully admit that I have only skimmed PHB3 so far (have been too busy this week)

Question: For psionic powers that can be augmented there is augment 1, and augment 2. can you spend 2 points to get both augments? or can you only get one augment of your choice per use? (or am i completely misunderstanding something)
