Picard Season 3

The timeline suggests Jack was conceived shortly after Star Trek: Nemesis, not during her time at Star Fleet Medical (which was 30+ years before the current time).

Note that in the defunct "All Good Things" timeline Picard and Crusher have been married and divorced.

That makes the most sense structurally, but the character's played by a 30+ year old actor who was literally born sometime around the end of TNG season 1. Certainly the character could be younger, but he'd need to be a lot younger to have been born 20 years ago in-universe.

He's playing a younger character. It happens, it's called acting.

Regardless of my likes and dislikes, the ST shows of this Paramount+ era look amazing. Sometimes I feel like there's too many light sources on things like the bridge sets, but it all sure is pretty.

Yeah, it's all very pretty and dramatic, but I do sometimes miss the days when people adequately lit their working environments. At least Star Trek Discovery justified it in the first season with Lorca's light sensitivity - these days, there could be whole cohorts of Mirror Universe infiltrators on most starships and they'd never be more than mildly inconvenienced by the ambient lighting.

Which is fair enough. But I think when the timeline of someone's life becomes a key plot point more care should be given to having the actor look like the age you want them to be.

That said, they also had to cast someone who reasonably matched specific parents here. That's already a lot of limitation on who can be cast, that has nothing to do with actual acting ability or fit for the actual content of the role, without also worrying about someone in their 30s playing someone in their 20s. If that's even what he's supposed to be...

Well, they're now 3 for 3 on great episodes this season, which to my mind already makes it the strongest season of Picard.

And it turns out all I needed to really like Raffi's character all this time was for her to get teamed up with Worf.
