At least one of my school ID numbers was the same as my SocSec number.
Same. I remember them just appending a digit at the end of it.At least one of my school ID numbers was the same as my SocSec number.
It’s weird how people can’t tell the difference between human nature and the culture they’re raised in.
I have found that US Customs takes a very dim view if it when you have to get out of the car in order to give them your license plate number. No idea whyI still remember my driver's license number from another state over 25 years ago - I'm guessing because it was on my checks (along with SS number) and commonly used as ID.
I don't remember the license plate number for my car that I've had for over a decade in spite of all the times I've had to walk out to see what it was to put on the information form at a hotel or the like.
There’s science on how people forget the most familiar things or don’t bother to remember them in the first place. The old “I know it like the back of my hand” phrase has been tested repeatedly. Most people cannot tell the difference between the back of their own hand and the back of a similar hand. Their correct picks are no better than random chance.I have found that US Customs takes a very dim view if it when you have to get out of the car in order to give them your license plate number. I have the typical old person problem. For example I can remember that the Dudley combo lock on the security cage at work has the same combination as the one I had on my high school locker but I've had my current car for a year, and still can't remember the plate#.There’s science on how people forget the most familiar things or don’t bother to remember them in the first place. It's definitely the Shagnasty, he's talked about it before. IIRC the skinwalkers were all going to be humans who changed shape, because that's what the books he had said they were, but then he looked into it more (and looked at more NA sources).NYT interview with Jim Butcher https://archive.is/0cknw (non-paywall link) Trigger warning attempted suicide.
wow they did him dirty on the tv show, not even a DvD set, I'm guessing this in reference to the skinwalker ( Naagloshii) "Years ago, he reconsidered his approach to a villain after meeting a fan from the Navajo Nation"
Oh boy, that thread. If I ever needed a "case in point", there it is.When this came up in The Ethics of Two Way Ignore thread in Meta a few years ago, I said:
