Yeah. It’s only a problem for the people whose copyright is violated and IP stolen, no one else seems to care.
Back in the 1990s when I was practicing Entertainment law most regularly, I saw a survey of music consumers that revealed that 25% would download tracks from a pirate site, even if they knew it was a front for organized crime or terrorists.

If that was part of the mentality of the buying audience, how do you think knowledge of that attitude affected those on the other side of the supply & demand curve over time?

Elsewhere: Why do people ask questions of groups that are already pre-dispose towards one view? Like asking what an anti-religious group thinks of a religious group.
It can expose nuances, inconsistencies, logical gaps & hypocrisy. It may shed light into the depths of beliefs or dislikes. It may reveal previously unrealized dimensions to the point being discussed.

All of which can be used or even critical when engaging in discussions, negotiations, problem solving, etc. regarding said discussion.

Nothing to do with your post, except the word.

I was just coming here from elsewhere to post something about the staunch desire of many folks to act like there is no nuance on others side of arguments, but always demanding it on their side. :-/
We give ourselves infinite benefit of the doubt while giving almost exactly none to people who disagree with us. There's a long list of justifications and assumptions that explain my side and I shouldn't have to detail them all for you to just believe me and accept my opinion as fact, but you damn well better give me an encyclopedic accounting of each and every one of your justifications and assumptions...provided in triplicate...signed by witnesses...something something...unlimited rice pudding.

This reminded me of a particular wake-up call I had a few years ago about the various things we take for granted in so many discussions.

I’m a long-time participant in a cooking thread on another board. One day, a legit chef asked me about making gumbo. So I decided to post a recipe in the thread for my most commonly made version for him (and others) to enjoy. I typed it up, copied & pasted it into a response window and was about to hit “POST”, when I noticed I had skipped a small step.

I fixed it, but then noticed another omission. After correcting that, I paused, suddenly realizing that what I was about to post would be easy enough for HIM to follow, but “the others” might not be as familiar with certain terms or techniques. So I filled in those gaps.

I was about to post it again, when I remembered he was in Norway, and might have problems getting certain ingredients.* So I added substitutes. But in doing so, I remembered past instances where I also had to substitute ingredients because of allergies, medical or religious dietary restrictions, and so forth. So I made note of THOSE ingredient swaps.

I eventually added a tutorial on how to make a gumbo roux, and why you’d use different kinds.

The post I thought I could knock out in an hour ultimately took me THREE DAYS of revisions & editing before I decided it was complete as I could make it.

* Even though it was a catalyst for refining & improving my post, I had worried needlessly. His kitchen was in a resort upscale enough that he could import whatever ingredients he damn well pleased, and his personal income was likewise sufficient to do so for his personal kitchen!😂
