It's weird how "just let people like things" only ever seems to apply when someone tells you your preferences are wrong but never when you're telling other people their preferences are wrong.

You can let people like things and ALSO recognize that MIGHT be a red flag.

Or just a major compatibility problem, maybe. Not everyone who makes stuff I don't like is a garbage person, and not everyone who likes stuff I don't like is a garbage person. That doesn't mean liking different stuff isn't a problem, especially in a dating context. (Having auditioned for enough garage bands, and having been in enough garage bands that auditioned people, I'm completely clear on the "you're a fine musician, just not a great fit" thing.)
