Fortunately, in Canada, we literally have a law that says an apology is not an admission of guilt.

Though that sort of thing also breeds the construct sometimes called the nonapology so people can try and have their cake and eat it too.

Well, that's all sorts of wonderful...

My car's rear drum brakes needed to be replaced (for a while now), and I was planning to get it done this weekend when I had the time - the parts are sitting in my trunk...

Tonight on the way to work I lost my damn brakes and had to turn around and slowly limp home again.

I don't have an uber account so I had to call out of work, and will be out at first light to go fix my damn car.

True. Though there is at least one poster I find who tends to state that their opinions are backed up by facts, but others opinions aren't based on facts and thus are objectively a worse opinion.
