I'm rather surprised that more ambiguous wording isn't caught in either proofing or play testing, but there's so much of it that does make it through.

These AI companion things are going to cripple an entire generation.

Social Media -> Covid Lockdown -> AI Companions = decades of stunted kids unable to separate fact from fiction, or determine what reality actually looks like. Its like the recommendation people had for managing social media 'oh just curate your feed' = form an echo chamber, but now the AI is programmed to form a nice little cocoon, an echo chamber custom built and containing 1 person and their delusional thoughts.

Sorry but unless you can show me some peer reviewed evidence this basically makes you a flat earther /s

I would also be willing to wager that there's more than a little self-proofing, given margins. Playtesting likely involves the authors' leading the group, as well, which means their interpretations don't get challenged.

It also plausibly means they see the kind/s of play they expect, especially if their playtesting group is (or overlaps with) their primary gaming group.

100%. Most of the arguments about rules I see on here are just clear cut "it's probably a good thing you two don't play together" situations.
