Ugh, looked at the Magic Top 8 for the pro tour and it makes me so sad.

I used to play way too much Magic, and way too much 40K, and I kind of (completely) cannot stand what they have become, and I blame greed.
Well, I never looked at the rankings myself, even when I played in the tournaments.

But M:tG created the CCG market, as I recall, so there was an element of greed hard baked into its foundation.🤷🏾‍♂️

Agreed. I generally find, when I look into electrical, that it's a shock the last idiot didn't cause the place to burn down.
I generally don't do that 'fixed it for you'-type response, but are you sure you don't mean:
Agreed. I generally find, when I look into electrical, that it's a shock
'cause that would be funnier.
Please don't put tongue and passage into the same sentence again.
If those two words combine in your mind to something unpleasant*, perhaps it is the comedy sites** you've been visiting that are sensitizing you. Take a break from them. Watch some bad tv instead. I hear the Food network is running a salad-tossing competition this week, that should take your mind off of such unpleasantness readily. *moreso than, I don't know, licking a hallway, which admittedly would be unsanitary but seems more a nonsense thought than disgusting thought. **it's the comedy sites, right?
Quinns Quest's actual play makes a pretty good argument for Toon.
I don't think I've ever seen anyone play Toon and not have a rollicking good time. Selection effects might be in play, of course, as who plays Toon without expecting exactly what they are about to get?

Yeah, I miss an era/metagame that IMO was perfect.
Those two years where I could play any of Bogles, Elves, or Allies in modern and have a chance of top 8ing in local tournaments...

I wonder if it worked because WotC was basically nuking any deck that could either win turn two or had a decent chance of winning turn three. (Although I treasure those turn three elves and allies wins).

It's been just EDH for me for quite a while now.
