Pineapple Express: Someone Is Wrong on the Internet?

That's where I am, too. In the end, one takes priority. And it's (almost) always optimization. The player who's built an optimization monster might have a few scenes where they RP really, really well...but when faced with a situation where they have to pick one or the other, they'll (almost) always pick optimization over RP. You can't serve two masters and all that. It's like multitasking. People think they can do it and are great at it, but every bit of research shows the literal opposite. You don't do both well, you do both really badly.
I've had the bad luck to have been the guy who wanted to play a character, in a group of players who wanted to play the numbers, almost every time. I typically come up with a character concept and then figure out how best to fit it into the rules. Any time that I'm somewhat optimized is almost purely accidental, though sometimes my concept does lean into stuff like "Guy Who Ignores Anything But Being Good With <Weapon>", Inigo Montoya style.

"I'm good at multitasking" just means "I care less about doing multiple things badly" IME.

Unrelated to the above: I really wish people would read articles before they make judgements about the contents of the article.

Elsewhere.... "I get to say whatever I think is true and its on you to prove me wrong."

People say all kinds of stupid s[tuff].
This particular incident sticks out in my mind mostly because the person who was arguing that burden of proof was outdated....had earlier actually linked to something that had evidence of their claim. But because they hadn't actually read it, they didn't know that. And in this entire (very long) twitter argument no one on either side ever pointed that out, so it was almost entirely people arguing about something they'd not actually bothered to read.

Edit: not their claim that the burden of proof is outdated, I'm dealing with an ornery cat atm so I've forgotten crucial context.

It's Twitter. There's a pretty good chance it was just two bots arguing back and forth trying to draw others in for engagement.
