Pineapple Express: Someone Is Wrong on the Internet?

With how that was shaping up, I'm honestly quite shocked that there hasn't been an incredulous post in the Meta forum yet

The wisdom of that depends greatly on the sandwich & location. I’ve tried the wrapped premade ones, and consider them food of almost last resort, just edging out hot dogs on rollers.

But some gas stations take food seriously. In NOLA, lots of gas stations sell freshly made fried shrimp or oyster po’boys. Here in D/FW, I’ve noticed several that house mini-restaurants selling BBQ, Mexican/Tex-Mex, Indian, Nepalese and Afghani cuisine. Menus are limited, but you can see the food being made.
Yes indeed. I've been to gas stations which make outstanding food in-house. I've been to others which have fresh sandwiches delivered every day from a local sandwich shop. I've been to others which have offering from the bowels of some nether plane.

I have eaten 3. I was in a focus group that tasted them. I hated it.

Later, I tried one after they went into production. I still hated it.

I tried it one last time a decade+ ago to see if it had improved. It hadn’t.

To be fair, Texas gas stations aren't exactly like anyone else's.

Very similar to my experience of Red Bull.

When I was a teenager I got sent a can randomly as test-marketing for it, and they offered a small voucher if you replied - I tried it, and dutifully and truthfully told them it tasted like the worst possible ultra-cheap fake orange juice combined with cheap perfume or air freshener. I don't think they sent me the voucher.

A couple of years later I was at university and the latest craze is Red Bull and Vodka. It was still vile and vodka did not help it.

A couple of years ago I tried one again at a friend's house because was the only significantly caffeinated thing there. Still vile after nearly 30 years.

What you're dreaming of when you're driving and you're pulling over to get some food...*

*Wait, that's not what you're thinking of? Huh. I often get my emotions confused, because it's hard to tell the difference between emotions like angry, or hungry, or sugar, or guilty, or drunk, or horny, or needs moisturizer.
