Pineapple Express: Someone Is Wrong on the Internet?

That's more like Teranna.
People say Toronto like they're trying to say it as fast as humanly possible. Not even really sure why. We don't do it with any other city. You'd think something like Mississauga would get chopped down. But, nope. We have to mushmouth Toronto. :erm:

Showing that people are in less of a rush, in suburban Mississauga, than they are in urban centre Toronto.

... though you'd never know it by the way that they drive in Mississauga.

... as stated by someone who lives in what is almost universally viewed as the Canadian city with the worst drivers; Brampton.

Sure, but that's 1.5 hours with no traffic. It's almost 97 miles from Trona to Barstow, which is significantly farther than your trek to work. You could easily walk those 7 miles. Nobody in their right mind is walking 97 miles through desert to get to the nearest city.

Because, in our car-filled world, what we are willing to walk is the best measure?

Plus, the next time I have to go to the office, it's gonna be like 6F when I'd have to start walking. No thanks.

The point is that 7 miles is in the middle of something. 100 miles from Barstow that barely counts as civilization with 25,000 people is in the middle of nowhere. My small Los Angeles suburb has 30,500 people.

A large majority of North Dakota(since we're picking on North Dakota) is within 100ish miles of Bismark with its 75,000 people, or Fargo with its 133,000 people.

Well, yes, that's the point. The rest of the state is nowhere.
I've driven all the way across North Dakota (from west to east, on I-94) and my dad was from North Dakota so I've spent time other than that, there, and I can confirm.

Forest? No. Jersey has more than enough discreet motels that even the JD doesn't need to resort to hanging out in the pine barrens.
It's not just "the pine barrens". The Lenni Lenape called it “Popuessing” meaning “place of the dragon*”! It's its domain!

* Note: This gets bandied about a lot but there's no hard evidence that this is actually true. "Poetquessnink" means "place where the mice live" in modern Lenape. But I'm a GM and scenario designer, dammit, and it's too good not to treat it as true until refuted by firm evidence!
