The "are you human" verification to set up a new Twitter account today was much more elaborate than I was used to. Had to do 20 of them - each of this format! It also felt hurtful to use 5 dice instead of just 3 or best 3 of 4. In any case, I wonder if there is a best 3 of 4 one that could be used on here to slow down the spam accounts...

I'd argue that they made their bed. Now a couple of astronauts and stranded in it. Brave people. Maybe braver than sensible given Boeing's recent quality-trimming track record.
I mean, Boeing management moved the management headquarters from Seattle, where the Manufacturing was located, to Chicago. It was all probably part of the culture shift that embraced Offloading, which is a shift completely antithetical to Bill Boeing's original vision for the company. But management felt they were being interrupted too much by manufacturing concerns, so they moved offices.

Boeing Plant Manager: “Sir, we’re concerned about the quality of some of the parts we’re being asked to use on the assembly lines.”

Boeing VP, stuffing $100 bills in ears: “La-la-laaaaa! La-la-laaaaaaaaaaa! I can’t HEAR you!”

Those dice have both numbers and pips and they are not consistant across the different dice. That really bugs me for some reason.

As much as I hate real world stuff intruding on this thread, I will only briefly say that Boeing was once the pinnacle of American engineering.

Then they made the mistake of merging with McDonnell-Douglas. The McD/D corporate culture won out, and it's been a long and painful decline from a company that was once run by and for engineers to one that is more interested in stupid party tricks ... um, financial shenanigans. And we are seeing the results of that play out.

Further Snarf sayeth naught.

I have heard the same.

From somebody who worked at Boeing until he, uh, "took early retirement." So, take that into consideration.

There are a lot of articles you can read about it. Also, I know because I had an older relative that was a Boeing lifer, so I heard about it in real time as it was happening. He predicted that this would happen at some point.

Fortunately, he did not live to see it happen. As much as he would have enjoyed being right, I think seeing Boeing like this would have destroyed him.
