Pineapple Express: Someone Is Wrong on the Internet?

Not to sound like an old man, but I encounter these clouds everywhere now. I have been at the grocery store and been hit by one in the toothbrush aisle.

I kind of wish people smoked the way we used to it in the 90s, with bowls, bongs and joints. Something about the way they smell in the vape pen (or maybe it is something they add to weed as a preservative now that it is a commercial product, that gives pot clouds an undercurrent of sausage aroma to my nostrils
It's a regular occurrence where I'll be driving and just get randomly overwhelmed with the smell. I guess the car's HVAC sucks up the air from outside to pump through the AC, but it's just wild that is can linger so much from another vehicle or pedestrian.

This happens to me as well. I am guessing this is usually the car ahead of me, but I suppose it could be in the air outside. It is funny because I was just getting to college in the 90s, when we were all smoking pot. But the vibe of it is totally different now that it is legal (I don't personally mind if people want to smoke, but I wish they were a little more considerate about other people when they do so----it isn't a smell everyone wants to be breathing in all the time----especially as you get older and have more lung issues)

The same reason a place calls itself a shoppe, and not a shop.

If you say you are drinking gin, that is disreputable. If you say you are drinking a very dry martini, however, people assume you're wearing a tux and playing baccarat.

Gin and tonic is a nice middle ground

Well, it reminds me of the origin story of gin and tonic (which I am sure most of you know).

Originally, the tonic was used for its medicinal properties (quinine).
Sailors would add lime or lemon peels to prevent scurvy.
And then the gin was added to make it palatable.

Nowadays, we think of the tonic as cutting the gin, while originally it was the other way around.

Yeah, I smoked a lot of pot in high school around 15 years ago. It is really weird how much it's changed. I still partake from time to time. I'll buy a bag of gummies and they'll last me 6-9 months. Last time I went to a dispensary they loaded me up with a bunch of free weed too. It's just silly how easy it is to get. I remember the struggle of trying to find it as a teenager without a car. Spend an entire weekend walking around town trying to meet up with the least reliable people in the world. Now I get coupons in the mail for it.

So anyway, I decided to smoke my free joint the other day and I still couldn't help but go walk the dog to a secluded wooded area 15 minutes or so away from home.. I know it's legal, but it still felt too weird to just do it on my apartment balcony like so many of my neighbors do.

It's completely reasonable to be mad about clouds of smoke coming into your home. Though, if you are mad because you can smell it in the air, TFB.

I treat it the same as cigaret smoke. If people are showing consideration it's fair, if people don't care how many old people, children, or others in general are when they are blowing smoke, I think that is a bit rude. Also people smoking on the road in their car, the issue there for me isn't the smoke, it is that they are getting high behind the wheel

Like I said, I smoked in the 90s. I have no issue with people doing it. But I think as with anything, respecting that other people are breathing the same air as you, and that they may not want to inhale pot smoke, should be the norm (I don't expect to inhale it while I am walking in the grocery store, or as I am entering a walgreens, and I don't think it would be polite for someone to smoke it and exhale in close proximity to others who are not smoking it).

I was all for legalization. But I also expected, perhaps naively, that people would be more considerate than it seems they have been in my area once it was legal
