I'm trying (and failing) to remember if this ever came up in "Forever Knight." It must have, at some point.
In the Dresden Files books, thresholds are a problem for all supernatural creatures to various degrees. No supernatural creatures can cross a threshold (or otherwise enter a home) without permission from the dweller without leaving a significant portion of their power behind. For something like a Black Court ("classic") vampire, that means they simply can't enter because they're corpses animated by necromantic/vampiric power. But even a mortal wizard like Harry is affected, and I recall at least one instance in the series when he's asking someone if he can come in and they respond with something like "Well, I'm not stopping you." As he enters, the threshold strips him of most of his oomph, leaving him significantly weaker – which was the point, as the dweller didn't trust him but didn't really mind having him inside for a chat.

The answer to the classic philosophical question "Why did the chicken cross the road?" is...

To piss Jack off.

Earlier, I was on my way home from the supermarket with a stromboli I was planning to eat for dinner when several cars ahead of me on the one-lane road suddenly slowed down to let a couple turkeys cross the road.
The sudden application of my brakes caused the small pizza box with the stromboli in it to fly off the passenger seat and dump its contents onto the floormat. 🤬
Fortunately, the presence of a guardrail prevented me from taking my car offroad to mow down the damn birds in a fit of road rage.
