Pineapple Express: Someone Is Wrong on the Internet?

I cannot imagine deciding, at my age, to learn all about 20something TikTok influencers so I could hold up my end of a conversation about youth culture.
My spouse is 10 years younger than me, and we seem to get along just fine. But even with that decade-wide age gap, there are a lot of these moments around our house:

"What do you mean you've never seen The Godfather?! It won three Oscars! It defined an entire genre!"
"Sorry, I was too busy watching The Goonies."
"It's not an either-or situation!"

"What do you mean you never listened to Wilco?! Their Yankee Hotel Foxtrot album was the soundtrack to the 2000s! It defined a whole genre!"
"Sorry, I was too busy listening to Pearl Jam."
"It's not an either-or situation!"

Lunch is on me, so order up.

All this talk about knowing the true nature of others glosses over how few people know themselves well.

I’ve known me for 57+ years, and I’m still learning things about myself. Some of them surprise me. And I there’s things about myself I’m well aware of that I don’t understand at all.

You find similar things in couples of the same age. My wife and I are about 6 months apart in age but we have conversations like this.
