I finally broke down and hit "Ignore." I can't help but wonder why someone would hang out on a primarily 5e board only to use any conversational opening/excuse to bash the edition even when no one asked or it's not germane to the topic at hand. What is this experience affording you?

With all due respect, there's nowhere in CA that is really "middle of nowhere". All of CA is "somewhere" compared to much of the country.

Yeah. I do my best to avoid doing that even though I'm not a big D20 fan at the best of times, and 5e isn't the best of times for me, but as you say, coming into a 5e focused board and complaining about it is mostly perverse. Only time I'll bring it up is a thread complaining about elements that seem directly derived from, well, the fact they're playing D&D and it doesn't seem inappropriate in those cases to mention that other games manage to avoid these things.

But any other time--why? Why rain on other people's fun? What purpose is served?

There are several posters -- on different sides of this issue, it should be noted -- who could be easily replaced with an AI bot, even with today's technology, and no one would be able to tell the difference.

In case you were unaware, there's a long running Canadian cartoon series called "Fugget About It." Mob boss Jimmy Falcone is moved to Regina, Saskatchewan, by Witness Protection. I think it's on Hulu these days.
