Maybe that's why I try to just post my opinion to a thread then almost immediately "unwatch" it. Don't want to get stuck in that spiral.

Not really responding to you or anyone specifically, but just posting as a PSA in case some readers aren't aware:

It's possible to set watching threads default to "off" in account Preferences, along with many other types of alerts. I turned off auto-watch a long time ago, and it helps me a lot with "moving on".
Simply shutting off some/all those notifications can make things a bit quieter, and might help some people resist the impulse to engage needlessly.
