Pineapple Express: Someone Is Wrong on the Internet?

Way way easier to say it's not our fault it's luck, fate, God's Will, than to take that hard look and accept our own responsibility lol.
Absolutely. Take responsibility for what's in our control. And yet, many things are simply out of our control. How they turn out might be up to other people or it might be random chance. Though, to be fair, a whole lot of things we call luck are really the result of incredibly complex systems that we know essentially nothing about.

Systems and processes that reach beyond our individual lives, like all the things that had to happen in the textile industry for centuries until someone gets to the point of deciding which color of shirt they are going to put on in the morning.

Sure, that is another behavioral reinforcement. Calling us the thinking thinkers is nice, though to be accurate, I'd say we are the talking talkers, compulsive communicators.
I mean...clearly. We're all typing typers.

Yep. Or even simpler, you don't get the job because the company was only going through the motions so they could hire some middle manager's cousin. Or the boss rejects your proposal because they had a bad weekend or ate too much and want to cut the meeting short to hit the john.

Put in the best effort you can but, more often than not, the results are out of your hands.

Do the best you can. The rest is out of your hands.
Yes, though it is to our benefit to think we have more control than we really do.

There's a benefit to acknowledging we don't have control over things, we don't go mad.
I generally like this comic, but that's a terrible conclusion.

The only way to get by without going mad is accepting you have zero control over the situation, because convincing yourself you have control when you don't is a sign of madness.

We're all mad in here. ;)

For who, and what we are, sometimes we lose sight of the fact that our brain is just an organ evolved to help us interact with our environment. The only order we see is what we put there, there is no operating system.
