So, going into new threads these days feels like I am going to get a lot of pineapple on my pizza but instead someone throws a bunch of anchovies on my pie about 2 or 3 pages in (sometimes not even a full page).

So frustrating that folks that like anchovies (heretics) cannot stay in their own thread and leave my pineapple loving threads alone. We get it, you enjoy the devils topping instead of the heavenly inspired pineapple and we don't care. There I said it.

I've been into anchovies, banana peppers, pineapple and red onion on my pizza lately.

I often think of superheroes as pharmaceuticals. Like, there's Batman and then there's a horde of generics put together by compounding pharmacies and fly by nights or sold under confusing names that'll do the same thing but cost less.

That's kinda a thing in a lot of genres, though, innit? An idea bounces around and collects a bunch of different spins?

(And drug-naming is something of an art.)

Absolutely, though I think it's most apparent right now in superheroes. Or it seems to be tolerated the most there?

Well, in the comic book market, that’s pretty much true. The last time I looked, there were nearly 200 different versions of Superman, and DC Comics owns more than half of them.

I know of a few Batman & Flash knockoffs, too.

What would be hilarious- and I think it’s what you’re getting at- is having a bunch of them in the same setting. Some of them could be quite similar to the original, while others would be pale imitations.

El Murciélago- a luchador inspired Batman copy

Bat-Bro- a crime fighter who DIY builds his “wonderful toys” with supplies from a major hardware chain.

Batorang- a guy in a homemade orange Batman costume

Bat-Slugger- a vigilante who wears Batman merch themed streetwear and uses a baseball bat sporting Batman-symbol metal studs.
