Pineapple Express: Someone Is Wrong on the Internet?

Yeah, if the quarterly profits get bad enough, I think Disney will be thrilled to break out a very expensive reissuing of the original cut, starting with a theatrical release, followed by expensive physical releases, along with all of the other stuff they can possibly sell around it.
Nah, that's wishful thinking.

Disney execs have said a couple of different things here - both that there's some kind of reason that they can't re-release the originals, and that they "want to honour Lucas' wishes". It's difficult to track down quotes due to the huge amount of SEO'd noise on the issue and that it was most discussed in the few years after they bought the IP. Disney mouthpieces like Favreau have also made very dodgy excuses more recently, which to me, clearly points to "we can't" rather than "we don't want to". Favreau basically said "Oh only Gen-Xers who saw the original in theatres even care so there's no point!", which like, either he's a lot dumber than I think he is, or he's making up an excuse for something he doesn't agree with (given even Gen Z people are pretty keen on seeing the "right" versions of movies his position is obviously laughable).

I think unless there's actual proof that it's an urban legend.
The proof is in the pudding in this case.

No-one without an NDA has seen the contract, so it's inaccurate to claim it's definitely the case that it's in that contract (though hardly an "urban legend", that's just a devaluing misuse of that term, like how people use "gaslighting" to mean any lie at all, or "conspiracy theory" to mean basically "any theory"). But given that Disney are extremely greedy, it's impossible for me to take seriously the idea that they'd entirely voluntarily just sit on something that would obviously be extremely successful, financially.

Especially as they've already had several times when their quarterly or annual profits weren't looking great, when shares dropped pretty hard.

I think it's extremely likely that the rumours that Lucas' contract prevents Disney from doing this whilst he is alive are basically true, but I suspect Disney figured when they signed that he'd die before most of their potential market for this did (whilst Gen Z and Millennials will care, it is true to say Gen X are likely to be the most enthusiastic), and they may well still be proven right. Lucas is 80, the oldest Gen Xer is 60-ish.

Condescension, belittling people is not strong way of trying to defend your point.
It’s the only way some people are capable of communicating. The internet, especially social media, is partly to blame. But it’s clear a lot of people took kindness-compassion as their dump stat. Apparently a lot of people think kindness-compassion is a weakness rather than a strength.

I find telling a joke, or other humor is a good way to open a path for communication, I don't know if it is roger's rules, works for me though.

okay so which word would you use to describe the fact that without any actual proof all we have is making assumptions and speculations?
It seems to fit the definition pretty well unless you're one of those who go "it doesn't fit it EXACTLY"
  1. a humorous or horrific story or piece of information circulated as though true, especially one purporting to involve someone vaguely related or known to the teller.

EDIT: Would supposition work better?
