Yeah, I think you're wrong.Even as dissociated blowing off steam back in this thread, it is a weak, stereotyping position to take.

But going into specifics violates the thread rules, eh? There's only one catch, and that's catch-22.
Never forget lolI know librarians still mad about the Library of Alexandria burning.

People not knowing what they're talking about BECAUSE they've only played one or two games and are ignorant of huge swathes of design is an endemic issue in casual RPG discussion. As I said, if you are going to dismiss someone, do it for their specifics. "Dude, you don't know what you are talking about" is far better than, "Dude, you haven't read enough to speak."
We don’t know the original context for the comment ultimately.People not knowing what they're talking about BECAUSE they've only played one or two games and are ignorant of huge swathes of design is an endemic issue in casual RPG discussion.![]()

Sure. And that's the intent of the thread. It just seemed evident to me that there's a common and recurring situation Whizbang was mostly likely reacting to (but not directly responding to, thus avoiding an unpleasant interaction). That's the most likely scenario, especially since we know Whizbang's a pleasant and reasonable poster. And that Umbran was stretching to an uncharitable interpretation. We don’t know the original context for the comment ultimately.
