Pineapple Express: Someone Is Wrong on the Internet?

I thought I was being genuinely helpful. I mean, I'd hate for someone to quit their well-paying job, spend all their savings on farmland and a tractor, and have it be all for naught. (At least I didn't say anything about Tom Cruise, or the gun he's wearing in that photo...)

Yeah. And people really, really don't want dialog in movies or TV shows to match how real people in the real world actually speak. If you don't believe me, record a conversation. Wait a day or two, then play it back. Now transcribe the thing exactly as spoken, be sure to include all the UMs, UHs, awkward pauses, burps, farts, distractions, side conversations, remembered points from previous conversations, non sequiturs, etc. It usually only takes doing that once to disabuse people of the notion of realistic dialog.
I think that's the reason why Ewan McGregor's little stuttered "That business on Cato Neimoidia doesn't - doesn't count" in Revenge of the Sith bugs me. I'm pretty sure George left it in there because it sounds like natural speech ... but because it's the only example of its kind in his Star Wars films, it stands out in an unnatural way.
