Pineapple Express: Someone Is Wrong on the Internet?

These people are unfortunately still around, and still obnoxious, and a lot of them haven't noticed the craft beer scene isn't really thriving or cool like it was in their youth. A lot of friends of my friends are in this camp so I run into them more often than I'd like.
I will snark on BigBeerCorp and its tendency to assimilate small breweries and turn them into names on a label, but I will also say it's OK to drink the beer you enjoy drinking.

That's a perfectly reasonable position. Craft beer is just a sore subject for me as it was at the height of it's popularity in my 20s so I ran into a lot of people who just used it as an excuse to look down on people who drank cheap beer. And usually they didn't even drink very nice beers themselves!

Your scenario is pointless to try in all contexts because a 17th level character can circumvent it easily under perfect conditions.
I will never get the hardcore theorycrafters’ need to white room everything. And most of it is based on the worst possible reading of every edge case you can find. More and more I think of it like the soccer* players who’re trained to flop on the ground whenever another player comes within 10ft* of them. It’s just the worst kind of performative nonsense.

There are a lot of beers (and arguably some beer styles) that are craft beer darlings but are not where one should start. I mean, I once described a specific double IPA as tasting like a pine cone wrapped in barbed wire and dipped in grapefruit juice--and that was a beer that I liked.

As someone who can't stand most IPAs, I'm not going to dispute that. But for the interest of clarity when I say the beers most of the snobs I ran into drank weren't good, I don't just mean they didn't taste good (although they probably didn't), I mean they were pretty mediocre beers. Just the kind you'd buy at Costco (all of the worst ones also made Costco a part of their personality) instead of Wal Mart or Kroger.

I mean, if you like pine cone wrapped in barbed wire and dipped in grapefruit juice then embrace it! Some people like <insert something to get an edition war going> in ttRPGs, why not the same in beer?

But seriously, I've worked hard to pick good ones around the edge with my dad when I want him to move a bit away from Modelo when we split one.

I do! Lupulin shift is real!

In truth, I enjoy basically everything but sours. Some of the beers I enjoy are wilder rides than others, of course.

Meeting the people you want to drink beer--or TRPG--with where they are seems like the right approach to me.
