Which is as it should be - just like when you play a male character - and if someone wanted to play a different hair-having species that is female and have a beard, they can too!

Absolutely. Honestly, I don't ask for a lot in the way of physical descriptions of PCs, people can have their own ideas and images. The only time there's been any friction has been toward the ends of campaigns, when I've made Hero Forge minis of people's characters, as mementos. (One of those instances was a player who envisioned her dwarf woman as having at least a scruffy beard, which was easy to add.)

TBH, I wouldn’t know. Beyond LinkedIn, a couple image hosting sites and a couple forums like this, I don’t participate in social media. No Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, Twitter or any of that stuff.

Never even loaded those things onto my machines.

Whenever this topic comes up there is always at least one poster that says something like “women don’t want to play characters with beards.”

But literally every woman who has played a dwarf in a game I was involved with was really into their beard. Which is not to say those posters’ experiences are wrong, the are just not complete.

Maybe it is just that I like to mess with ideas of gender expression in my fantasy (and in life) as do most of the people I spend time with and have plenty of cross-gender play.

And why wouldn't they be? They can be so expressive!

When my female player in a past campaign decided to run a female dwarf PC, that was my first question: does she have a beard? Her response was an emphatic "No way!" She found the whole concept fairly repulsive. So the female dwarves in my campaigns don't have beards...which would probably have been my default in any case.

EDIT: And now I regret searching etsy for "female dwarf with beard miniature." Some of those female dwarf miniatures had no beards, or much in the way of clothing...

So we had a refrigerator repair scheduled today.

Dude was 2hrs late, and the company AI didn’t tell us he was late (even though the text the company sent AT 7AM said it would). Just as I’m getting ready to call the company, I get a text from a different tech saying the call had been added to HIS schedule, and he was on his way.

He arrived in his slate blue coveralls, did the job well and quickly. And I told him about the notification issue. I assured him we knew it wasn’t his fault.






I still didn’t give him his machete back, though.
