Pineapple Express: Someone Is Wrong on the Internet?

This is the path I walked before finally getting Apple AirPods. I felt the hot glare of Sam Vimes on my neck as I discarded cheaper crap I tried to save money with repeatedly.
Although I’ve long internalized the lesson that buying better quality products is often more economical than buying cheaper ones, I do occasionally need to reinforce it on occasion. Amusingly, the most recent refresher on Vimes’ Boot Theory involved me getting into men’s dress & dress casual boots. 😂

I’ve worn cowboy boots since I was 4 years old*, but after retiring my last pair after 20 years of wear, I decided to try dressy lace ups. My first pairs weren’t cheap compared to my sneakers and other shoes, but they were only a fraction of the price of some of the more expensive ones I saw…or even the cowboy boots I favored for most of my life.

And, with one exception, all of the first pairs I bought had problems I found disappointing enough that I donated them within a year or so. (They were still functional as footwear.)

I watched a ton of YT vids by cobblers & fashion “influencers” (for lack of a better term), and when I started buying the NEXT wave of boots- including one pair of cowboys- I was easily spending 2-4x as much per pair. And what I got was OBVIOUSLY better. The oldest ones from that 2nd wave are 5 years old now, and will probably last at least another decade.

* and hikers since I hit my mid-20s.

Sometimes, it is about precision - often with a disagreement about the amount of needed precision.

And sometimes its being context-blind or least dim-visioned. If you come from certain backgrounds being really friggin' fussy about some things is second nature--in the appropriate context. But it isn't always necessary or even useful in general discussion, even sometimes of the same subject.

Maybe they still like the game and don't automatically avoid giving money to people who have products they like where they don't like the people. It isn't universal.
Yeah. If you drill down most people would not be big fans of many companies but are not willing to part with parts of life they enjoy.

I find it bizarre that some people walk around not caring about corporation X but struggle against rpgs specifically.

No judgment. I just don’t think most people have the commitment to have integrity all the time, self included.

I ate well all day…healthy even. But after that much conviction I just ate a doughnut.

Mmmm…tastes like failure

i'm half tempted to start a thread asking "why do people here still play D&D/buy WotC products if they don't like the company"
If I don't buy the new products, how will I know what to complain about? Duh!

Also, I'm back home, but my wife and daughter are still several states away, staying with my dad until his stuff is straightened out and he's back home. All of which is to say, it may have been the wrong time for me to binge season 1 of "The Pitt."

Say, my usage of Amazon.

Well, in some ways its closer to them.

No judgment. I just don’t think most people have the commitment to have integrity all the time, self included.

Heh. I'm not even going to talk about my eating today...
