Could someone claiming the art isn't the same elaborate? I'm curious what exactly has changed?
I mean, to my eyes just looking at the stuff, he seems to have gotten better over time, which is pretty normal for an artist who is honing their craft. Sure, thst involves the style evolving and adapting over time, bit all I see is progress from a young artist to an older experienced artist...?

Just did. None of that stuff resembles the work he's doing now as far as I'm concerned, and I never "lamented" the loss of anything more specific than "the work he did on Planescape". Your claim about the "sketchy, angular stuff" is not something I said.

To me it's clear that you simply like his new art and think it's a good fit for Planescape. Just say that if that's what you mean. And if I'm wrong, what do you mean?
First, I was personally describing his early Planescape art as "sketchy and angular" and did not mean to imply that is how you would describe it.

But my point was that if you click through to the oldest pieces he has in the Planescape gallery, you can see it grow softer and rounder and more like what he has done for the 2024 set. You obviously have a preference for the early stuff and that is fine, but it doesn't constitute all the art he did for Planescape in the 90s. To whit, I think you are making too much of his change in style since it is evident even 30 years ago.

Yeah for me it's still recognizably Diterlizzi. I don't expect him to recreate the exact art from the original Planescape... for that much they could just re-use that. But I'm not seeing why they wouldn't use him as a call out to the original and how his style has changed so drastically it doesn't invoke OG Planescape. To me, it feels like trying to find something not to like.

You are welcome to hold that opinion. I disagree, and the rest of my conclusions follow from my premise.

I expect there are plenty of things in the actual text (far more important than any art to me) that I won't like.

Anyway, as I look over google results, its very clear there was a lot of cute/softer/'labyrinth' type lean to a lot of his work. There was a lot more lines and some 'harshness' to it as well, and probably more cleavage than we are going to get this time around, but who knows maybe Wizards surprises us.

The odds that its just a cleaner/safer take on his style, are probably quite high, which is fine.
