Playing Like Celebrim - The Fighter

My own house rule for fighters was extremely simple: At first level, and every level after that at which they did not gain a bonus feat, they gain a cumulative +1 bonus to weapon damage rolls.

This is in some sense similar to the Pathfinder rules, in that you've implemented along side the configurable feats a fixed progression of improvements to combat ability.

Even more so than the Pathfinder rules, the problem with this is that combat ability and damage dealing in particular isn't really the Fighter's problem. The problem is that outside of hitting something with a stick, the fighter lacks options. Increasing the damage directly like this doesn't really address the fighter's lack of flexibility, problem solving ability and inability to protect himself on the basis of his own resources. What the fighter really needs isn't more damage necessarily. What the fighter needs are better magical defenses, better mobility, better skills, and increased tactical utility beyond merely charge/full attack/full attack.

What I think you have to address in your fighter design are issues like: "What about force cage?", "What about high DR?", "What about Hold Person and other save or suck situations that attack my will save?", "Can I buff or debuff in addition to attack?" and "Can I do anything to assist the party outside of combat?"

The answers to those questions ultimately involve changing more than just the fighter class itself, which is why any fix that only attempts to make a more powerful fighter either ends up abandoning the fighter as a concept (Tome of Battle, for example) or else is ultimately is unsatisfying.

That's true. Largely my fix for that was not playing above 12th level or so.

I thought your skill revisions looked especially intriguing.
You've shown us Leadership, could we see the Run, Porter and Tactics skills?
