I've only run two D20M campaigns (a dimensional Lost World setting, and a zombie apocalypse setting) and neither featured magic in any form. If I wanted a D20 game with magic I'd use D&D not D20M.

Out of curiosity, how did the zombie setting work out for you?

I actually haven't had a chance to use D20 Modern.

However, the campaign I've designed does use magic.

OTOH, if I were asked to play a completely non-magical D20M game, I would, and happily.

I've never used magic in a d20 Modern game. I'd consider adapting some of the stuff from Call of Cthulhu if I wanted to run a Lovecraft style game, but in general I just don't need it for the types of d20 Modern games I like to run.
