Pork Roll - have you heard of it?

How is it that people have never heard of pork roll? I guess it is similar to the way I discovered chorizo during a trip to Texas. It is all over the place now, but that wasn't the case 10 years ago.

Now scrapple for those who have never had it nor heard of it is about as foul as it gets.
Ok, I'd tend to agree since scrapple almost always has liver and the thought of eating liver makes me feel a little queasy. I'm from Delaware though, the epicenter of the scrapple world, so I have to defend the stuff as a matter of honor! Scrapple might be grey and kind of mushy, but Delaware probably produces more of it than just about anybody else. Heck, there's even an "Apple & Scrapple Festival" in Bridgeville, DE every October. Besides being an obvious mecca for devotees of disgusting meat products the festival has strange and interesting events like a contest where people carve statues out of huge blocks of scrapple.

I won't touch Spam or Treat. I won't eat potted meat. Heck, I even avoid canned vienna sausages, but scrapple is part of my heritage and pride...sort of...

I've heard of Pork Buns
If you watched "The Untold Story" with Anthony Wong you'd know that those are made out of human flesh though.

Pork Roll around here refers to a pork roast tied - usually suitable for a rotisserie grill.

Never heard of the NJ version.

I've never heard of Pork Roll or Taylor Ham. Back Bacon, I know well.

Anyone else ever seen the canned meat called "Spork"? I've never tried it, but I owned a can for about two years.

I was in Key West when hurricane Georges knocked out our power for a while and during that time one of our meals was Spam cooked on a grill. It was really good! the fact that our option was to starve may have improved the memory of it. :)

Scrapple is great, I grew up on it and I've done fine in life.... er, welll, the gamings been good anyway.... :uhoh:

Beef liver with bacon is great and breaded chicken livers fried up is wonderful!

Taylor Pork Roll is excellent stuff, firmer in texture than scrapple and it fries up better than Spam. They have it in NC at Lowes (Boar's Head distributes it)
