PoTC question?

To celebrate talk like a pirate day, MojoGM and I and one of our friends went to see PoTC again. I caught something, actually all 3 of us did, this time that I'd not caught before.

I can't recall his name, but you know the guy who they splash water on to wake him up? Who then becomes sort of second in charge after Jack Sparrow? At one point, Elizabeth calls him by name, like she's known him for some time, even though, presumably, they just met.

Did they meet earlier in the movie? Does anyone know what I'm referring to?

It's been a while since I saw the movie, but if I'm thinking of the same character you are, I believe he's on the ship in the very beginning of the movie when Elizabeth is a young girl. They have a short conversation at that time.

He was a sailor (the bosun or something) on the boat that brought her and her father to Port Royal at the beginning of the film. He was the superstitious one who said it was bad luck to have a female on board.

We actually missed the first 15 minutes of the movie this time So we probably missed his whole scene this time and didn't recall from the last time.
