Property for bows that allows variable Str Bonuses

I seem to remember a property for magical bows that allows variable Str Bonuses to be applied to arrows fired from it. Could someone enlighten me as the what this property is and in what book it is hiding it.

I am planning an higher level dwarven archer and am looking for this kind of enchantment for my bow.

Thanks :)

Why would you need a variable strength bonus? If you have a +2 mighty bow and only have a 12 strength, your can still use it but only get +1.
At -2 to hit.
If your Strength bonus is less than the strength rating of the composite bow, you can’t effectively use it, so you take a -2 penalty on attacks with it.

In case I have a bull strength cast on me, or increase in strength from leveling, or I get a belt of giants strength, and so on.

I do not like the idea of replacing a magical bow to get the most out of my strength bonus.

If I get a composite bow rated for my strength and my strength increases I lose out on that increased damage - annoying. Also if my strength goes down I do not like the idea of having a penalty (-2) to use my favored composite bow because my strength is too low. All together not so efficient and haphazard considering the adventurers life.

In that manner a magical bow that compensates for variable strength mods would rock the kasba. :)

But you take a -4 to attack if you don't have enough strength to wield the bow properly. In that situation you would need 14 str.

Also, If you try using a regular composite bow (treated as a +0 mighty) with a negative str modifier you take then -2. For regular bows, if you have a negative str you apply it to the damage.

I see no Balance problem with allowing this.

I would just tack on a premium to Mighty property to allow this. Mighty modifiers are rather cheap as it stands.

Ray of enfeeblment is realy annoying to all combatant's.

As long as the ability can't make the bow go beyond +20, a +1 modifier sounds fair.

Darn it, I've been playing this game for how long? All these rules!

Here's my new house rule: As part of their inherent enchantment, any magic composite bow automatically matches its strength to its wielder, up to +6.
