Andy Collins (lead designer on PHB 3.5) is hoping that the following headline does not top a WotC press release around GenCon time. . .

From a gamer standpoint I hope the same thing as Andy Collins does. I think it would suck if he got fired from WotC after the release of the 3.5 versions of the books.

They'll lay off collins and hire monte back then begin development on 4e which will really be 3e prior to the revision.

(You know, given the post-3e layoffs, I'd actually be kind of worried if I were Andy. Though I'm not going to expect any refunds . . . Of course, players of enchanters may ask for 'em. The joy from the barbarian greatsword wielders should counter that, though.
