What about templates?
And if the race has variables (like the presence of wings with a half-fiend and the number of special attacks of a ghost) can the player just choose or is it really variable (if variable, is it rolled by the DM or player)?

anyone, even the good guys can use templates if they want. They have to pay in levels though. Variables are as per the rules. Half fiends for example only get wings if they are a large race. I roll for all variables.

Fiendish/Celestial +2 ECL
Half fiend/celestial +4 ECL
Half dragon +4 ECL

When we win, I am going to treat everyone on the side of Eeeevil to a beer in the 10' x 10' room we keep those 100 orc guards in.

They won't mind, theres always more room in there somehow...

One more thing:

As I said earlier I promised two of my RL friends that I would let them play if they wanted to. One, castor troy, is already signed up and I just now managed to talk to the second one. He too wants to play.

I'm going to let him in the game as an evil merc. Now, this could be seen as a bit unbalancing, but bear in mind that all the good guys can take the leadership while only the enforcer and evil mercs can. Besides, the good guys' victory condition is easier than the evil teams'.

A few more issues:

Followers of any type can NOT take leadership. PERIOD. Cohorts and followers only have enough exp to get to their predefined level. So should a cohort make a magic item, it would cost them a level of experience.

Oh, a few more things

I hadn't thought about ti earlier but I do have the manual of planes. Unless anyone objects, I could make it an available source book.

Also, anything from the WOTC web site is valid, except for web enhancements of existing products. So any free standing valid from the WOTC site is ok, like say the skeleton template. Unless anyone objects of course.

Well, I'm not too in favor of the MotP. It detracts from the "core-only" dungeon crawl feel that I know and love. Not to mention, I don't own it.

Making changes at this stage seems like punishment to those of us that have their characters already done.
