Psionics Survey Results: Generally Positive But More Work Needed

WotC has published the results of last month's psionics survey. They indicate a generally positive reaction to the playtest psionics rules, with some aspects proving less popular, especially the way psionics and magic interact, and the mystic class itself getting lower scores. The general conclusion is that more work is needed on the psionics rules, and that there will be another draft in a couple of months.

Its still amazing to me that people don't think WoTC listens to the fan base when they did on the playtest, took it in for the new edition. Asked again for release schedule that the majority of fans wanted...and listened. Asked on the surveys what people think and want...and listen. Yet we have the nay-sayers that always sprout negative comments that WoTC doesn't listen, blah, blah, blah. It utterly incredulous that we have to read these posts every time. WoTC could give away a gold coin with every book and the same people would complain about something.

I'm glad they are doing the surveys, listening and making adjustments on the feedback. This survey, is a resounding number of people as for 32 page adventures form level 1-5, or 5-10 etc and they end up doing it, well, grab a fork and crow please as I hear it tastes like chicken.

My comment about psionics was not to spend any time on psionics. I do hope, however, that whatever they finalize on is to the liking of people who actually want psionics.

But it was expanded in the plethora of modules and adventure locations such as Vor Rukoth, and was it not also where the scales of war path, and the chaos scar encounters seasons were set? All together I would say it qualifies as new setting, and it was used in anything that was not FR, DS, or Eberron specific. Though its presentation was piecemeal, so was The Known World, until the Gaz series.

They weren't really connected though. Each could have been stand alone in their own separate world. By design it wasn't a setting, just the foundation to make your own setting.

There were people who actually liked the mystic and its take on psionics? Who were these people? Most of the feedback I heard about it here was entirely negative.

I liked the general take a lot.
But I wasn't crazy about some things, like the name, and some of the specific implementation.

But it sounds like they understood that, so I'm excited to see what it looks like in November(hopefully).

The survey makes pretty clear that they won't be including psionics in the Sword Coast Adventurer's Guide release. I'm disappointed because I was kind of hoping they'd be in there, but I'd rather see more developing & playtesting than a rushed release of something.

I'm not sure that psionics are exactly iconic to the Sword Coast (maybe they are, just not in my reading of the FR), I wouldn't them to just stick them in even if they were ready for release.

Amen. I voted a big YES to that as well.

I have to admit I'm buying everything D&D 5e related...but that was the big thing I called out as especially cool in the comments too, that and any book that add player options whether it be a campaign or a entire book of just options.

While my specific qualms with the Mystic differ ... I was generally positive.
