Note that your wizard could have a wand of heightened dispel magic. That's going to be more expensive, but dispel magic heightened to 4th level will require a 14 Int to be cast, and thus a +2 bonus rather than the mere +1 of a 13. Furthermore, the caster level can be set at any value between 5 (for a wizard, druid, cleric) or 6 (for a sorcerer) and the actual level of the crafter.

Of course, a wizard could also create a staff of greater dispelling heightened up to level 9 -- or a staff of Mord's Disjunction, with the added bonus that if there's an artifact and something goes wrong, he could argue with the DM to have the staff, not himself, being deprived of magical powers.

Since dispel magic doesn't involve a save, I'm not sure what would be the point of heightening it.

Considering how my campaign is set in FR, Imbuing magical items is a little late and clunky. :)

But I *Have* decided what I'm going to do for my next campaign. Basicly something similar to Imbuing, but instead, characters quest for their magical items, quest to add abilities to them, because they 'attune' themselves to the weapon. They have to research about the weapon, do tasks to unlock it's powers, etc etc. :)
