Question regarding "who goes first.."

First Post
Hi everyone,

A quick question--

In PBP games, does anyone have any objection to the order of who gets to act first based on initiative?

I haven't played in a long time and I remember 2nd ed. always recommended that the party choose a spokesperson... I notice in PBP games characters don't always have a chance to respond.

Best practices? Go by initiative and wait?

Usually, actions are dealt with in initiative order, BUT people do not wait with posting until it's their initiative. So all players respond and the DM handles them in order of initiative. This might sound complicated, but isn't that much of a fuzz.

Hi Thels,

Thanks for your reply. I was wondering, if people were to wait (in a live game, for example) would actions be determined by who has the highest initiative in non-combat situations?

In non-combat situations, I find that just going around the table, starting with the person directly to the left or right(DMs choice) is easiest to get whatever it is that they want to do out of the way, be it shopping for gear, talking to an NPC ect...
