RECRUITING CLOSED! 4ed: The Wolfcrown

To Shay: I just thought you had Thorn in her natural form, since you haven't mentioned it in a while. Sorry if you meant otherwise. Next time I won't assume that, and I'll ask every once in a while what Thorn is looking like, just to make sure.

To Rathan: I'm going to do my best to avoid handing out Hero Points during combat encounters, but yes, Doren will receive one, assuming he survives the fight.

Oh I see! Heee, that's my bad too. I've played several changelings now, and I guess I'm starting to take things for granted with them.

Just for the record though, Thorn never intentionally assumes her natural form. She doesn't like it at all...and she doesn't like compromising the advantage of shape changing...and finally, she feels (whether its true or not) that people aware of her true nature have difficulty trusting her.

I apologize for not making that clear before. :)

You don't have to just because I mentioned it... I just did what Doren whould have done after just loosing the king...

I realize you can't give tons of them out.. but I thought I'd at least try hehe..

Yes I have a question:

Is someone dying, and if so does my character know it???

We only went through one round?? As I said before 4e is tough. :p

HM

Shayuri: I understand. Glad it's settled now - I'll just ask if you haven't recently talked about your form.

Rathan: No sweat. That's exactly the kind of in-character behavior I want to encourage. Valiant sacrifices and such are really wonderful.

HM: Doren was dying, but Baern just stabilized him with a Heal Check (DC 15). So he's no longer dying, but can't get back in the fight unless someone allows him to regain HP. Your character will always be aware of what's going on the battle, including the status of others. And yeah, 4e can be tough, but I'm sure you folks can handle this battle.

Actually DF I made my death saving throw... I was stable I do believe...

On that note I do believe a successful heal check allows the person healed to spend a healing surge! I COULD be wrong but that's how I read it.

Players Handbook 1 said:
✦ Use Second Wind: Make a DC 10 Heal check to
allow an adjacent character to use his or her second
wind (page 291) without the character having to
spend an action. The character doesn’t gain the
defense bonuses normally granted by second wind.

✦ Stabilize the Dying: Make a DC 15 Heal check to
stabilize an adjacent dying character. If you succeed,
the character can stop making death saving throws
until he or she takes damage. The character’s current
hit point total doesn’t change as a result of being
stabilized.

This would be based on my making my death saving throw however. Depends on which happened first. If I stabilized first then I can spend my second wind. If I didn't, then I wasted my +2 to may saving throw and Baern just stabilized me.

On a side note DF: Check the Dustbowl thread.. I left you a message there.. You should make a character and have fun!

Actually, Rathan, you have to make a death saving throw on each of your turns until you're stabilized.

To quote the PHB: "When you are dying, you need to make a saving throw at the end of your turn each round. The result of your saving throw determines how close you are to death."

Three failed throws kills you, but a successful check doesn't stabilize you. It just doesn't put you closer to death.

As for the Heal skill, it can allow you to use a second wind, stabilize a dying character, or grant a saving throw. Under stabilize the dying in PHB (pg 185), "The character can stop making death saving throws until he or she takes damage. The character's current hit point total doesn't change as a result of being stabilized."

Sorry to quote the rules at you, but I think it's important that we're on the same page.

EDIT: Ah, I see what you mean. Sorry about that. Go ahead and have Doren wake up then, and spend that second wind!

Thanks DF I was slightly confused :erm: but I'm better now.

Onto another topic:

I just finally got Torath leveled uped, and do not wish to do all that again. Although I do like the + 1/2 lvl bonus and may add something like it in my future gaming. It is a pain changing everything. Oh my question sorry was rambling.

I'm looking ahead to getting Versatile Channeler as my next feat but don't know all the Channel Divinity powers I can choice from :(. I have the PHB and Divine Power books and that's it. So if anyone finds time could they list me some of the CD powers givin to other classes? Please :) and thanks in advance.

HM

You can choose divinity feats from pretty much any domain you want in Divine Power or the PHBs. Since you worship all 4 of the gods, I can see pretty much anything being ok. Sorry I don't have a list though!

@holyman if it will help I can run Torath throught he Character Builder for you and upload to Iplay4e and send you a pdf of the character sheet?
