RECRUITING CLOSED! 4ed: The Wolfcrown

Firstly, please remember that this is my first time running a PbP campaign, so this is still a little foreign to me.

I don't mean to seem overzealous with the ruling. It just seemed to me that we could all share one turn. If you have such a distaste for it, we'll change to initiative as written (with one caveat: that I run all the monsters at once. This would save me considerable effort) for the next battle as a trial run. If it goes smoothly, we adopt the standard system. If it doesn't, then we find a compromise? Agreeable?

I can sense some tensions here a bit and I'd like to clear the air.... as much as I like the 'post when you're able and lets the cards lie as is method is easy and carefree.... I also see Shay's point here wholeheartedly.. especially if characters are built on the assumption that init will be used (as far as I'm aware it was not noted that rolled init orders were not going to be used)

In Shays defence DF I've NEVER seen he/she (as I'm not entirely sure which you are Shay.. sorry LOL) angry ever in my many years being here at enworld. I don't think this is anything more than frustration going on as Shay built his/her character to go fast and first whilst r/l is keeping him/her going nearly last every time because everyone else has more accessibility to the internet with more ease... including myself.

In short lets give the rolled init order a try.. YES it does mean a little waiting for people to post in order and it WILL show the game up a bit... but lets not get angry.. lets compromise and smile and continue to enjoy the game.. this is the best game I've been evolved with in a long time.. lets not dampen it with hostile and frustrated feelings :)

EDIT: In fact to compromise to save a bit of time at the beginning of combat DF... why don't you roll everyone's inits up for them so you don't have to wait so long to gather them all :)

I would suggest that DF roll init for everyone and post them in is opening combat post along with his map. I have founding that when the DM says roll Initative (done that ), the combat starts about three days later.

Another way to simplify is for the DM to roll a d20 for the group and a D20 for the bad guys and we all being smart women/men would know when we go by adding are modifiers to what was rolled for us. And DF would still get things pretty much grouped together. And we might get to go first every once in a while.

Ok going to post my actions then I'm off to The Grey Mist to work on my 29HD worm. He is BIGGGGG!!! LOL :p

hey HM..... you just gave away plot to a game I'm playing in LOL..... *sighs and shakes his head a he chuckles*

<---- Goddess of Fire here LOL

Hm...speaking of overzealous...heee.

Reading back, I see that I've created a certain...perception...of myself because of the vigorousness with which I've promoted my own ideas. :)

Okay, putting on the brakes now.

I'm not really angry about this. I admit to a certain passion that's lent urgency to my arguments, but I don't want to be misunderstood as being in a fury, or ranting, or in any way threatening. And believe me, looking back, I can see how one might reach that conclusion. Not intentional. :)

Disclaimer noted, the proposal on the table (trying a rolled init with the NPC side being rolled as one, and the GM rolling the PC side individually with posted results) is fine with me. I think there may be situations where you'll want to break the baddies down...but I'm content to leave that to you.

I appreciate very much your willingness to give this a try.

Thanks.

Sorry  just excited about the major combat coming up!! Had to get it out. And I'm not lying it is a 29HD worm. I had to up it.

So About how to handle init I'm good either way so I vote with Shayuri (who somehow evaded the gender question, NICE! :p )

One roll for the bad guys keeping them in a group and the DM rolling for each of us (and we trust ya, no need to use IC good old fashion polygrams will do, gosh how long since I rolled the dice in that dusty 'ol bag???)

Now back to The Creature of the Gleesheer!!

Shay: I appreciate your willingness to compromise and stay calm and clarify intentions.... it goes a LONG way I assure you....

HM: Yes and no... Yes because I don't know how much some of us in the God game are gonna be able to effect said crazy HD creature... and No because I do believe if we find a weakness we'll single it out and use it being VERY smart Deities... however what makes me even more worried is if the monster is cold based.... which makes Lavaria VERY susceptible to it's attacks if so heh...

BTW DF?.... Are you going to make a character and a pokemon for Camelots Play-Test anytime soonish? I'd love to be on the same side as you even if just for a play-test! heh

Okay, in all seriousness though.

I -am- angry about one thing.

THESE ROLLS!!

What the HELL?!?! I just threw everything but the kitchen sink at this guy, and I hit nothing but AIR! I've been throwing nothing but 2's and 4's for the ENTIRE BATTLE! Oh, except my OA, which did a big 3 damage!

I don't usually whine about rolls, but...but...I'm just absolutely floored here. Thorn looks like a complete BUFFOON.

*sob*

Now back to your regularly scheduled sanity. :)
