Return of Creature by Poll - Poll #27 (weaponry)

Pick one

Shade

Monster Junkie
In a previous poll, we decided that our creature would have slam attacks and "manufactured weapons" in its coalesced form. The nature of its "manufactured weapons" have been debated, so here are some options. Pick the one you like best.

Note that our creature could form multiple appendages, so could have three "sword-arms" or wield 3 rapiers, etc. That's for another poll. ;)

Option #1: True manufactured weapons, which it creates or draws forth from an extradimensional space. Always the same weapon (i.e. kukri)

Option #2: True manufactured weapons, which it creates or draws forth from an extradimensional space. Weapon type may vary (i.e. kukri, rapier, etc.)

Option #3: Variable natural weapons, such as "sword-arms or gear-chains", that function exactly as any other natural weapon.

Option #4: Variable natural weapons, such as "sword-arms or gear-chains", that may have additional abilities, such as bonuses to trip, disarm, etc., but no iterative attacks.

Option #5: Variable natural weapons, such as "sword-arms or gear-chains" that may have additional abilities, such as bonuses to trip, disarm, etc., and may be used for iterative attacks.

Option #6: Static natural weapons, such as "sword-arms", that function exactly as any other natural weapon.

Option #7: Static natural weapons, such as "sword-arms", that may have additional abilities, such as bonuses to trip, disarm, etc., but no iterative attacks.

Option #8: Static natural weapons, such as "sword-arms", that may have additional abilities, such as bonuses to trip, disarm, etc., and may be used for iterative attacks.

Option #9: Other (please explain)

Voted #2, although it doesn't reflect my preference all that well.

"creates or draws forth from an extradimensional space" sounds like either it could create new weapons from scartch and hand them out to its underlings, or it has a weapon stashed away in a body cavity, and once it loses it it's SOL. Neither of those are connotations I'm comfortable with.

I'd prefer to phrase my preference as:
"Option #2b: True manufactured weapons, which it creates on the fly, and which rejoin the body if it loses them. Weapon type may vary (i.e. kukri, rapier, etc.)"

that's a lot of choices... i smell a tie-breaker in the near future. ;)
Yeah. I think in general, it's probably better to allow multiple votes on a large poll like this. Considering we typically only get 9 votes or so, I wouldn't be surprised to see a winner with only 2 or 3 votes.

If I had the option to vote for multiple option, I might consider voting for #5 as well - or even #4, provided the critter gets at least two natural weapon attacks. Remember, this is supposed to be a high-CR, high Dex whirlwind nutcracker/melee hurter. Doesn't make much sense if it only gets one attack per round.

Absolutely no argument here, and do not fear...it will have plenty of attacks, regardless of the outcome. ;)

If it makes a difference, I prefer #5. That way at least we can simplify things and say "they're natural weapons, but they function exactly as if they're manufactured ones, except they can't be dropped or sundered". Still clumsy, but it's better than half a page of exceptions on how they differ from both natural and manufactured weapons.

I'll start another poll to give the folks who voted for the other choices a second chance to influence the voting. Essentially, it comes down to "has iterative attacks" vs. "doesn't have iterative attacks".
