[Review, Possible Spoilers] The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen

I'm gonna have to go with the naysayers. I was very much looking forward to this film and came out sorely dissapointed.

The jerky camera, and jump overall style probably deep sixed it more than anything else. I got the feeling that the shooting was done by a hyperactive six year old. The writing wasn't much better.

Guys, the title of this thread is NO SPOILERS. One guy posts spoilers, with a warning, and somehow some of you guys (Chain Lightning and Kesh, for starters) took that as free reign to let loose with spoilers thereafter without warning.

I now feel like I know half of the plot of this movie, despite skipping parts that I figured out were spoilers and stopped reading right away.

Grr. Very frustrating! Can we move the spoiler sections to their own thread, so nobody else gets caught up by them? Or, if not that, change the title of the thread to read SOME SPOILERS?

The villain, the Phantom, is unconvincing. Basically, he's an evil capitalist. It's like that's his super-power.

So, I take it it bears no resemblance to the comic whatsoever? I heard that, but I was still hoping that Fu Manchu or Moriarty would be the bad guy.

*Sigh* Kind of like the "Catwoman in name only" upcoming Catwoman movie. :(

Anyway, "Phantom", eh? Would he happen to either be The Phantom Of The Opera or the French pulp criminal "Fantomas" (a ruthless master of disguise)?

Hey, you wanna talk spoilers, Connery himself dropped a MAJOR one during an interview on, I think it was, the Today Show. I'm sure the studio execs were not pleased.

I just saw the movie. While I didn't dislike it, my girlfriend did. Both of us agree it is not as good as the other Action movies of this summer. In order, I would go 1) Pirates, 2) Matrix, 3) T3, 4) Hulk, 5) LXG.

I hated Hulk so bad that I honestly debated more than once walking out of the theater, only being stopped by the fact I would have thrown away 7 bucks.

I've edited the thread title to indicate spoilers now. I had intended for it to remain spoiler free, but one they're there, whatcha gonna do? :)

Try to keep it spoiler-light, folks.

I just saw it, and i thought it was a good movie. Unlike everybody here i dont nitpick every single little detail. Like the comic book guy in the SimpsonsJ/K.:)

I was disappointed by the lack of character development. I didn't care about any of the characters much. I felt this was the same problem with the Batman movies (except the first). When you have that many characters, you need to focus on a couple, and let the rest remain supporting roles. X-Men learned this lesson, and receive box office returns for it. Batman didn't, and killed the franchise for a decade.

I know I didn't nitpick it. I just couldn't stand the way in which it was filmed and written. That's a pretty broad critique rather than a nitpick. I liked the concept, the execution was just sorely lacking.
