[Review, Possible Spoilers] The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen

All right, I had some parts I liked and others... not so much. Overall, I wasn't too impressed. The Nautilus was cool, and I really liked the Invisible Man. However...

...Okay, I'll grant you that original Dracula could walk in daylight. However, he also had to travel in a coffin over the ocean, as I recall. I'm pretty sure I saw Mina walking around on the Nautilus when it was on the surface. It's a minor nitpick, I admit, but if they had to change her character, couldn't they be consistent with the source of her powers?

My other big problem was the revelation that M was Moriarty. In the comics, the characters keep mentioning M, and guessing as to his real identity. In the movie, it appears out of nowhere. The woman behind me and my sister both laughed in disbelief when Connery says his name. It seemed so silly. If they were going to keep M as Moriarty, couldn't they at least have had SOMEONE wonder about his real identity before they mentioned it?

My sister just alerted me to another strange thing in that movie. When they first put on that record and they show a black and white movie showing M and Dorian Gray, the first thing that they show is Mina putting the recording together, then turning to M and saying "It's ready for you professor" or something like that. But while she's with the others watching it she looks all surprised. They never show her walking out of the room with M, so was she in on the whole thing? To tell you the truth, I can't even remember this part, my sister was the one who pointed it out. But can anyone help with this?

Gah . . . all I have to say is that if Sean Connery is in the sequel, there is no way they're getting my money. As people have mentioned before, he's lost his touch, and I just don't want to see that. Plus, his character--eh, not so much.

(Overall, the film was better than I'd expected because everyone I talked to said it was horrible. That doesn't mean the movie was *good* . . . it just wasn't as bad as I'd thought.)

I'm fairly certain that wasn't Mina, just someone who looked similar.

RE: Mina travelling across water... remember that she's not a true vampire, since Dracula was slain. More like a partial one, I'd say.

Thanks, I'll tell her that. Although, knowing my sister, she'll probably be stubborn and drag me to another showing just to prove you wrong. (even if your right:D ) But I'm not complaining, I'll get to see the movie again for free.:D
