Yeah, I think it's the best Ranger to-date, though I still think it needs mixed with Rogue for the flavor I like. I miss 2e Ranger's backstab, and Uncanny Dodge seems like a Ranger ability to me.

Now, at least, I can take Ranger first and Rogue second, though. It's the perfect lead-in to Assassin. *giggle*

I want another option:

Yes, I like it, but it isn't a Ranger.

IMHO:
Ranger != WildeRogue
BAB
Revised Ranger: Full
Rogue: 3/4

Hit dice
Revised Ranger: d8
Rogue: d6

Skills
Revised Ranger: 6 per level
Rogue: 8 per level

Saves
Revised Ranger: Fort high, possibly Ref as well
Rogue: Ref high

Weapons
Revised Ranger: All
Rogue: Specified List

Spells
Revised Ranger: Divine
Rogue: None

Class abilities
Revised Ranger:
Combat style
Animal Companion
Woodland Stride
Track/Track while running/Endurance
Camouflage
Hide in Plain Sight
Favored Enemy
Evasion

Rogue:
Sneak Attack
Uncanny Dodge
Special Ability (Opportunist, Slippery Mind, etc.)
Evasion

Conclusion: So what does the Revised Ranger and the Rogue have in common? Evasion. Period.

Guess we'll have to start calling Monks "Monastery Rogues"....

Evasion and a few matching skills. I really think this character is what I've been wanting in a Ranger. What I still don't understand is why so many people want a non spell casting ranger(that's a little too close to fighter then. He would be a wilderness fighter with fewer feats and a couple other abilities)

I think a lot of people are tired of high magic campaigns, and are looking for low magic alternatives.

Really? I don't understand why so many people would want 3/4 of the core classes to have a spell progression.

Voted yes (with "official" caveat) and old school.

I ended up voting yes as well, also with the official caveat (since my question was never answered  )
To answer your question, I meant best Ranger period, muahahAHAHAHAHA. *lightning/thunder*

Nah, best official Ranger is fine.
