On the contrary, 12% of 40-50 million people is millions of young people, way more than any of us will ever meet in person.12% is not a lot of people nearly 90% were born during 4E's print run in 2014.

20 milion at the start of 3E run. It surly gained more until 4E but we don't know how many are in this 50 milion statistics wise is what i'm saying.WotC said at the turn of the century thst 20 million people worldwide had ever played D&D, IIRC. Ergo, we can conclude at least that 30 million people are new since 3E, at least, so well over 50%
It's a lot of people i don't say the contrary, but you said "a very healthy percentage of players" it's a small pourcentage of players that weren't even born yet when 4E was in print. On the contrary, 12% of 40-50 million people is millions of young people, way more than any of us will ever meet in person.
I'll modify 5hst somewhat to "weren't born or were wearing diapers when 4E was in print" because very few 3 year olds probably picked up 4E, and I would say that 1 in 8 is a very healthybpercentage of playersIt's a lot of people i don't say the contrary, but you said "a very healthy percentage of players" it's a small pourcentage of players that weren't even born yet when 4E was in print.
4E was in print until 2014, how are you calculating 7 years old to be 1/8 of the player base when the latest statistics don't even have 1% in 14 or younger.I'll modify 5hst somewhat to "weren't born or were wearing diapers when 4E was in print" because very few 3 year olds probably picked up 4E, and I would say that 1 in 8 is a very healthybpercentage of players
The last similar statistics they put out had 40 millions estimated. We don't know before that. We don't know the estimated number of millions of players in TSR era and Living Greyhawk neither. Even less combined.
Experience would be enought to become familiar with the games.
In 2019, a full 1 out of 8 players was aged 8-12, when their cutoff for measuring was 8 years old. The next year, they set 25 as their cutoff age, but those millions of middle schoolers are still around even if they aren't being counted at the moment. The point is, a huge number of players are young, as @Urriak Uruk says. Most people playing are younger, and the core audience for their marketing is middle school lthrough college (which has long been the case). I believe that there is a case to be made for marketing Greyhawk to younger players, but pretending that D&D is a game played primarily by older people ain't it.4E was in print until 2014, how are you calculating 7 years old to be 1/8 of the player base when the latest statistics don't even have 1% in 14 or younger.
I never said that, i said that the D&D audience is composed far more of experience players than new ones. Even those that started with 5E could have been exposed to Greyhawk through Ghost of Satlmarsh.pretending that D&D is a game played primarily by older people ain't it.
