This is a sad loss. And I wish that he hadn't had to spend his final years wracked with MS too.

he has been sick, and out of the public eye consequently, for a long time.

A sad day for comedy. He was hilarious.

Too many great entertainers have passed away in 2005.

Richard Pryor was a great comedian. I miss his original acts, and in a goofball way, I miss more his works with Gene Wilder.

A sad passing.

When I was maybe 14, my sister gave me, as a birthday present, one of Pryor's comedy albums, probably from the early '70s. I think we about wore that record out, playing it so much. Totally politically incorrect, of course, but funny as hell.

In his later years, he often came across as pretty bitter, but considering how much he'd gone through (the burning, the MS, a half-dozen marriages), I don't think it's too surprising. Still, he was a comic genius.
