Ring of Anti-hold person?

I would suggest that instead of pseudo-counterspelling the Hold Person, make the ring a use-activated Remove Paralysis. Would come in at the same 12000gp.

I would add a restriction that it must be worn for 24 hours to take effect.

Good idea. Also, I have a question for you. Some magic items have a time delay before they activate or become beneficial to you. I was curious in what situations you do this, or what types of magic items you apply this to. So far, I've only used them on healing/sustaining type magic items, such as those that allow you to go without food/water, sleep, or provide some kind of steady healing.

I suggest considering time delays for items that could conceivably gain the advantages of both use activation and command activation.

A Ring of Remove Paralysis is a reasonable continuous item. But if you can slip it onto a Held comrade's hand you to get an immediate effect are effectively gaining an unlimited command activated effect as well. That is a more powerful item.

It is really a question of anticipating how often an item would actually be used.

Consider a Quiver of Greater Magic Weapon. Used by a single person, you can estimate its value by comparing with the normal cost of enchanted arrows and a 3rd level Pearl of Power. Not a big deal. But it is quite a different animal if used to supply an entire party... or even an entire army.

Ooooo! Damn good point! I always forget that this kind of abuse is possible. Although, technically it isn't completely abuse, but also a bit of an oversight on my part. Luckily though, none of my players have tried to pull anything like that. Well, ok, one of them likes to try stuff like that, but I'm really careful with that guy. :)
